Task Completed: Update Language Pack Templates ​

All language pack template.xml files have been successfully updated to include all required template strings from the English reference file.

Updated Templates ​

All language packs now contain these 11 template strings:

  1. TPL_received_sms - Received SMS template
  2. TPL_received_mms - Received MMS template
  3. TPL_send_sms - Send SMS template
  4. TPL_missed_call - Missed call template
  5. TPL_notification - Notification template
  6. TPL_send_USSD - Send USSD template
  7. TPL_system_message - System message template (NEW)
  8. TPL_battery - Battery monitoring template (NEW)
  9. TPL_receiving_call - Receiving call template
  10. TPL_send_sms_chat - Send SMS chat template
  11. TPL_send_USSD_chat - Send USSD chat template (NEW)

Changes Made ​

Previously Missing Templates ​

The following templates were added to all language packs:

  • TPL_system_message: For system information messages
  • TPL_battery: For battery monitoring notifications
  • TPL_send_USSD_chat: For USSD chat responses

Some language packs were also missing:

  • TPL_receiving_call: For incoming call notifications

Format Improvements ​

  • All template files now have consistent formatting
  • Proper XML structure with correct encoding
  • Each template on its own line for easy editing
  • No TODO comments for completed translations

Tools Created ​

1. update_templates.py ​

  • Scans all language packs for missing templates
  • Adds missing templates with English defaults
  • Marks them with TODO comments for translation

2. format_templates.py ​

  • Properly formats template.xml files
  • Includes pre-translated versions for supported languages
  • Ensures consistent structure across all language packs

File Status ​

All template.xml files:

  • ✅ Properly formatted
  • ✅ Complete with all 11 templates
  • ✅ Fully translated (no English placeholders remaining)
  • ✅ Valid XML structure
  • ✅ UTF-8 encoding

Next Steps ​

For Developers ​

  1. ✅ All template files are complete and translated
  2. ✅ No further action needed for existing templates
  3. When adding new templates:
    • Add to English app/src/main/res/values/template.xml
    • Run format_templates.py to update all language packs
    • Add translations to the script for each language

For Translators ​

  • ✅ All current templates have been translated
  • No pending translation work for templates
  • Future template additions will be marked for translation

Summary ​

Status: ✅ COMPLETE

  • Files Updated: 9 template.xml files (one per language)
  • Templates Added: 3-4 per language (depending on what was missing)
  • Translations: All complete, no English placeholders
